Würzburg, Germany
The Würzburg Residence is one of Germany’s finest Baroque palaces and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 18th century for the prince-bishops of Würzburg, it is best known for its grand staircase, richly decorated state rooms, and Giovanni Battista Tiepolo’s vast ceiling fresco above the stair hall. The surrounding court gardens add to its appeal. Visitors interested in architecture, art, and European history will find it especially rewarding.
