Wismar, Germany
Wismar, Germany
Wismar’s Water Gate (Wassertor) is the city’s last surviving medieval harbor gate, built around 1450 as part of its brick Gothic defenses. Facing the old port, it offers a clear sense of Wismar’s Hanseatic past and makes an easy stop while exploring the historic center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors interested in maritime history, medieval architecture, or scenic waterfront walks will find it especially worthwhile. Its compact scale and prominent location make it more of a short, atmospheric landmark visit than a major standalone attraction.
