Wismar, Germany
St Mary’s Church (St. Marienkirche) is one of Wismar’s most important Gothic landmarks and a reminder of the city’s Hanseatic past. Although much of the church was destroyed in World War II, its soaring 80-metre tower still dominates the skyline and offers a strong sense of the original scale. The site is worth visiting for its historical significance, striking brick architecture, and the chance to understand Wismar’s UNESCO-listed heritage in a compact, central location.
