Valletta, Malta
St John’s Co-Cathedral is one of Valletta’s most rewarding sights, known for its striking contrast between a plain exterior and an exceptionally ornate Baroque interior. Built by the Knights of St John in the 16th century, it reflects Malta’s religious and military history in richly decorated chapels, marble tombs, and gilded stonework. Its greatest highlight is Caravaggio’s The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist, displayed in the cathedral museum. For visitors interested in art, history, or architecture, it is a worthwhile stop in the heart of the city.
