Valencia, Spain
Albufera Natural Park, just south of Valencia, is a coastal wetland centered on one of Spain’s largest freshwater lagoons. It’s valued for birdwatching, especially during migrations, and for traditional rice fields that sustain Valencia’s paella heritage. Visitors can take boat rides at sunset, walk or cycle along flat trails, and explore dune-backed beaches at El Saler. The park offers a calm, nature-focused contrast to the city, best from autumn to spring for birds and year-round for scenery. Access is easy by bus, bike, or car, with observatories and boardwalks for low-impact viewing.
