Tulum, Mexico
Tulum, Mexico
Cenote Calavera (“Skull Cenote”) sits just outside Tulum, drawing swimmers, snorkelers, and divers with its dramatic limestone openings that resemble eye sockets. Visitors can jump or climb down ladders into clear, cool freshwater and see light beams piercing the cavern. It’s smaller and less crowded than headline cenotes, yet offers a distinctive, adventurous feel. Facilities are basic; expect a modest entrance fee, limited shade, and slippery edges. Best for confident swimmers and those comfortable with heights. Popular with cave and cavern divers due to easy access to the Tulum system. Go early for calmer water and better visibility.
