Trier, Germany
The Basilica of Constantine in Trier, also known as the Aula Palatina, is one of the city’s most striking Roman landmarks. Built in the early 4th century as Emperor Constantine’s throne hall, it survives as one of the largest single-room structures from antiquity. Its plain brick exterior and vast interior reveal the scale and authority of late Roman architecture. Today used as a Protestant church, it offers visitors a clear sense of Trier’s Roman past and is especially rewarding for those interested in history, architecture, or UNESCO World Heritage sites.
