Te Anau, New Zealand
Ivon Wilson Park is a peaceful, 35-hectare reserve on Te Anau’s edge, ideal for a relaxed break from Fiordland’s grand scenery. Easy walking and cycling tracks loop through mixed forest to a small, trout-stocked lake popular for family-friendly fishing and picnics. Birdlife is abundant, with tūī and bellbirds often heard. Trails are mostly flat and well marked, suiting strollers and short outings; dogs are allowed on leash. The park is free, close to town, and pairs well with the lakefront or DOC visitor centre, making it a low-effort, nature-rich stop between bigger adventures.
