Taitung, Taiwan
Jialulan Recreation Area, just north of Taitung City along the coastal highway, is a scenic stop where the Pacific meets the Coastal Range. It’s known for wide ocean views, wind-swept lawns, and large driftwood art installations created after typhoons. Visitors come for sunrise photography, sea breezes, and an easy break on drives between Taitung and Sanxiantai. Facilities include parking, restrooms, and walking paths; there’s minimal shade and strong winds. Come if you enjoy open coastal landscapes and public art; skip if you prefer hiking or swimming-focused stops. Sunrises and clear days offer the best experience.
