Yu Garden (Yuyuan) is a classical Chinese garden in Shanghai’s Old City, built in the 16th century by the Pan family. Its compact grounds blend pavilions, rockeries, lotus ponds, and zigzag bridges, notably the Nine-Turn Bridge and Exquisite Jade Rock. The adjacent Yuyuan Bazaar offers traditional snacks and crafts, though it can be crowded. Visit for Ming-style landscape design, historic architecture, and a glimpse of old Shanghai amid the modern city. Best early morning or weekdays; allow 1–2 hours. Admission is charged, and English signage is limited but sufficient for independent visitors.
