Cathedral Rock is one of Sedona’s most recognizable sandstone formations, rising above Oak Creek in the Coconino National Forest. A short but steep trail leads to saddle views of red-rock spires, the Mogollon Rim, and glowing sunsets. Photographers and hikers come for the dramatic geology and classic desert light; spring and fall offer the most comfortable conditions. The site is also known for a purported “vortex,” adding a spiritual draw for some visitors. Parking is limited and requires a Red Rock Pass or fee. Expect crowds on weekends and bring water, sturdy shoes, and sun protection.
