About Boynton Canyon

Boynton Canyon, west of Sedona, is a red-rock box canyon known for striking sandstone walls, piñon-juniper forests, and seasonal wildflowers. A popular 6-mile round-trip trail follows the canyon floor to panoramic overlooks, with a short spur to the ancient Sinagua ruins at the Boynton Vista. Visitors come for photogenic cliffs, birdlife, and sunrise or late‑afternoon light. The area is also associated with a “vortex” site, attracting mindfulness seekers alongside hikers. Parking is limited and requires a Red Rock Pass or America the Beautiful pass. Best visited in cooler months; shade is intermittent and trails can be crowded.
