Sa Pa, Vietnam
Hoang A Tuong Palace is a 1920s hilltop residence built by a Hmong-Tai ruling family under French colonial influence. Its blend of neo-classical and Asian motifs, arched corridors, and weathered ochre walls offer a window into Sa Pa’s multiethnic, colonial-era history. Visitors come for architecture, quiet courtyards, and views over Bac Ha town (about 70 km from Sa Pa). It pairs well with the Sunday market and nearby ethnic villages. Modest exhibits, low entry fee, and easy access make it a worthwhile stop for history and photography lovers, though it’s brief compared to larger heritage sites.
