Rügen, Germany
Königsstuhl is Rügen’s most famous chalk cliff, rising 118 meters above the Baltic Sea in Jasmund National Park. A short walk through ancient beech forest leads to viewpoints overlooking stark white cliffs and turquoise water. The National Park Center offers exhibits on geology, ecology, and Baltic Sea history, plus a cliff-edge viewing platform. Expect striking coastal scenery, well-marked trails, and variable weather with strong winds. It’s ideal for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers; less compelling for those seeking beaches or urban attractions. Paid entry applies to the center and platform; alternative viewpoints exist along the nearby Hochuferweg trail.
