About Rijeka City Tower

Rijeka City Tower (Gradski toranj) is a Baroque-leaning clock tower and one of Rijeka’s best-known landmarks, marking the entrance to the old town. Built on medieval foundations and reshaped after the 1750 earthquake, its façade carries Habsburg coats of arms and a prominent clock added in the 18th century. The passage beneath leads directly to Korzo, the city’s main promenade. While the interior isn’t typically open, the tower’s historical layers, photogenic details, and central location make it an easy, worthwhile stop for orientation, architecture spotting, and pairing with nearby sights like the City Hall and Trsat staircase.
