About Jakobstor

Jakobstor is a well‑preserved medieval city gate on Regensburg’s northern edge, dating to the 13th century. Part of the former fortifications, it offers a tangible glimpse into the city’s defensive past and Romanesque-Gothic transition. Visitors can appreciate its sturdy tower, pointed archway, and surviving coat of arms, then continue into the adjacent Jakobsvorstadt quarter and nearby St. Emmeram or the Old Town. It’s a quick, worthwhile stop for architecture and history enthusiasts, best combined with a walking tour of Regensburg’s UNESCO-listed center. No ticketed interior, but the exterior is easily accessible and photogenic.
