Parque Central Independencia is Puerto Plata’s historic heart, framed by pastel Victorian-era buildings and anchored by the elegant San Felipe Cathedral. Shaded benches and mature trees make it a pleasant pause between sightseeing stops. Locals gather for dominoes, vendors sell coffee and sweets, and weekend events often add music to the square. It’s ideal for photographing gingerbread architecture, sampling street snacks, and observing daily life. Within a few blocks, you’ll find museums, cafés, and the malecón. Visit in the late afternoon for cooler temperatures and soft light; evenings feel lively yet relaxed. Note: limited parking; casual attire is fine.
