Pisa, Italy
Pisa, Italy
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a striking 12th–14th century campanile famed for its unintended tilt, caused by soft ground. Part of Pisa’s Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it complements the cathedral and baptistery with fine Romanesque architecture. Visitors can climb its narrow staircase for views over Pisa and the Arno plain (timed tickets required). On the lawn, the tower’s lean is best appreciated from multiple angles. It’s a brief but memorable stop—ideal if you enjoy historic engineering quirks, architectural detail, and combining a visit with the nearby Duomo, Baptistery, and Camposanto.
