Phu Quoc Prison (Coconut Tree Prison) is a sobering historical site where thousands of Vietnamese prisoners of war were detained during the Vietnam War. Restored barracks, barbed-wire compounds, and exhibits with documents and dioramas illustrate living conditions, interrogation methods, and resilience of inmates. Visits are self-guided or with local guides; signage is informative but graphic in places. Expect a reflective, educational experience rather than a typical sightseeing stop. Located near An Thoi, it’s easy to combine with southern beaches, but plan a respectful visit and allow 60–90 minutes. Suitable for travelers interested in Vietnam’s modern history.
