Panama City, Panama
Ancon Hill is a 654-foot forested hill rising above Panama City, offering some of the best panoramic views of the skyline, the Panama Canal, and Casco Viejo. A paved road and short trails lead to the summit, where you might spot sloths, toucans, and agoutis. The hill is a protected area with historical significance from the Canal Zone era; a large Panamanian flag flies at the top. Go for sunrise or late afternoon to avoid heat and haze. It’s an easy, low-cost outing close to downtown, ideal for photography and a quick nature break within the city.
