Nara, Japan
Nigatsu-dō, a hall of Tōdai-ji in Nara, is best known for its sweeping wooden balcony overlooking the city and surrounding hills. Founded in the 8th century, it remains an active Buddhist site and is closely associated with Omizutori, a centuries-old spring rite held each March. Visitors come for its historic atmosphere, fine temple architecture, and especially the calm views at sunset. If you want a quieter complement to Nara’s larger landmarks, Nigatsu-dō offers both cultural depth and a memorable setting.
