Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand
Phimai Historical Park, in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Phimai district, preserves one of Thailand’s most important Khmer temple complexes. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries, it reflects the architectural style of Angkor, with elegant sandstone carvings, a striking central sanctuary, and a planned layout aligned with ancient routes. Smaller and quieter than Cambodia’s major sites, Phimai offers a rewarding visit for travelers interested in history, archaeology, and Khmer art. Its compact size and town setting also make it easy to explore in a half-day trip.
