The Salle Garnier, Monaco’s intimate opera house inside the Monte-Carlo Casino complex, is a Belle Époque gem designed by Charles Garnier of Paris’s Opéra fame. Opened in 1879, its gilded auditorium, ceiling frescoes, and sea-facing foyer offer a lavish setting for opera, ballet, and concerts. The season is selective but high-caliber, with occasional public tours when performances aren’t scheduled. Visitors drawn to architecture, music, or Monaco’s cultural heritage will appreciate its craftsmanship and storied history. Dress codes and limited seating apply; book ahead for performances or check for guided visits.
