Lübeck, Germany
Lübeck, Germany
Lübeck’s Holstentor is one of Germany’s most recognizable medieval city gates and a symbol of the city’s Hanseatic past. Built in the late 15th century from dark red brick, its twin round towers and arched entrance make it a striking example of Brick Gothic architecture. Inside, a museum introduces Lübeck’s trading history and the power of the Hanseatic League. Even if you do not go inside, the gate and surrounding green space are worth a stop for photos and a sense of the city’s historic character.
