Lucerne, Switzerland
Chapel Bridge (Kapellbrücke) is Lucerne’s landmark 14th‑century wooden footbridge spanning the Reuss River. Famous for its tower (Wasserturm) and painted interior panels depicting Swiss and local history, it offers atmospheric views of the Old Town and mountains. Much of the bridge was rebuilt after a 1993 fire, with restored paintings and original sections preserved. Visit for a short, scenic walk, photography, and a tangible sense of medieval Lucerne. It’s central, free to cross, and best enjoyed early morning or at dusk when crowds thin and reflections light up the river.
