The Shard

Soaring above London Bridge Station, The Shard is the UK’s tallest building and a striking marker on the skyline. Designed by Renzo Piano, its glass “shards” house offices, restaurants, a luxury hotel, and a public viewing experience. Visitors come for The View from the Shard (levels 68–72), offering wide-ranging panoramas over the Thames, St Paul’s, Tower Bridge, and beyond. It’s particularly popular at sunset and after dark. Tickets are timed and can be pricey, but the vistas are unmatched. For dining with a view, several restaurants and bars provide alternatives without visiting the dedicated observation decks.
