Santa Justa Lift

The Santa Justa Lift is a 1902 neo-Gothic iron elevator linking Baixa to the Largo do Carmo. Designed by Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, it showcases Lisbon’s early engineering and offers a practical shortcut up the hill. Its observation platform provides sweeping views over Baixa, the Tagus, and the Carmo Convent ruins. Expect queues in peak hours; consider visiting early or using the return trip for the viewpoint only.
