Witches’ Market

Tucked into La Paz’s historic center, the Witches’ Market (Mercado de las Brujas) offers a window into Aymara spiritual traditions and everyday Andean remedies. Stalls sell herbal cures, amulets, llama fetuses used in building blessings, and ritual supplies for yatiri (traditional healers). Visitors come to observe living indigenous practices, browse handicrafts, and learn about local cosmology. It’s compact, central, and best visited with context—either a guide or a respectful chat with vendors. Go if you’re curious about culture and ritual; skip if you’re sensitive to animal products or prefer conventional markets. Respectful photography and conduct are expected.
