About Seokguram Grotto

Seokguram Grotto, on the slopes of Mount Toham near Kyŏngju, is one of South Korea’s most important Buddhist sites. Built in the 8th century during the Silla Kingdom, it houses a serene granite Buddha surrounded by finely carved guardian and bodhisattva figures. The grotto is admired for its artistic balance, engineering, and spiritual atmosphere, and is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site with nearby Bulguksa Temple. Visit if you are interested in Korean history, Buddhist art, or a quiet mountain setting with cultural significance.
