Kandy, Sri Lanka
St Paul’s Church, beside the Temple of the Tooth in central Kandy, is a serene 19th‑century Anglican landmark. Built by the British (1843–1853), it features neo‑Gothic architecture, a striking red‑brick exterior, timber roof trusses, and stained‑glass memorial windows. Inside, you’ll find a rare pipe organ and plaques reflecting colonial-era Ceylon. The church remains active, offering a quiet counterpoint to Kandy’s busier attractions. It’s an easy stop on a city walk, especially for visitors interested in architecture, history, or the layered religious heritage around the lake. Modest dress and respectful behavior are appreciated. Free entry; donations welcomed.
