About Alpenzoo Innsbruck

Alpenzoo Innsbruck is Europe’s highest-altitude zoo, dedicated to the wildlife of the Alps. Set on the slopes of the Nordkette above the city, it features ibex, lynx, wolves, bearded vultures, and rare alpine fish in thoughtfully designed habitats. Compact yet diverse, it’s easy to explore in 1–2 hours and pairs well with the Hungerburgbahn funicular that stops at the entrance. Families will appreciate the playground and feeding times; nature lovers gain insight into alpine ecosystems and conservation. Expect hilly paths and seasonal variations in animal activity; the best views and exhibits often come in the cooler hours.
