Khai Dinh Tomb, set on Chau Chu Mountain near Huế, blends Vietnamese royal tradition with European Gothic and Baroque influences. Completed in 1931, it’s smaller than other Nguyen tombs but richly detailed: a steep stairway lined with stone mandarins leads to a mosaic-clad thien dinh (main hall) where Khai Dinh’s gilt statue and elaborate glass-and-porcelain inlay shine. Visitors come for its distinctive hybrid architecture, panoramic hill views, and well-preserved craftsmanship. Expect many steps and a compact site; combine it with nearby tombs for context on late-imperial Vietnam and the dynasty’s transition into the colonial era.
