DeZwaan Windmill

DeZwaan Windmill is a working 18th-century Dutch windmill transplanted from the Netherlands to Holland, Michigan—America’s only authentic, operating Dutch windmill. Located on Windmill Island Gardens, it grinds locally grown wheat and offers guided tours that explain milling, engineering, and immigrant heritage. Visitors can climb partway up for close views of the gears, watch flour production, and explore surrounding gardens, canals, and seasonal tulip displays. The site pairs hands-on history with photogenic scenery and downtown access.
