Helsinki, Finland
Market Square (Kauppatori) is Helsinki’s open-air waterfront marketplace, set between the South Harbor and Esplanadi. From morning to afternoon, vendors sell seasonal Finnish produce, berries, mushrooms, fish, and handicrafts, alongside coffee stalls and classic salmon soup kiosks. Ferries to Suomenlinna and archipelago cruises depart here, making it a practical transit point as well as a sightseeing stop. The square offers views of the Presidential Palace and Uspenski Cathedral, frequent events and markets (including autumn’s herring fair), and an easy gateway to nearby Design District streets. Go for local flavors, maritime atmosphere, and convenient connections.
