Hannover, Germany
Leineschloss, on the banks of the River Leine in Hanover’s old town, is a former royal residence that now houses the Lower Saxony state parliament. Rebuilt in a restrained neoclassical style after World War II, it combines political importance with a central historic setting near the Marktkirche and other old-town sights. Visitors come less for lavish interiors than for its role in Hanover’s history and its prominent riverside location, which makes it an easy and worthwhile stop while exploring the city center.
