Erfurt, Germany
Krämerbrücke is Erfurt’s signature sight: a medieval bridge lined with half-timbered houses, still lived in and worked in today. Spanning the narrow Breitstrom arm of the Gera, it hosts artisan shops, galleries, and cafés along a single cobbled lane. Unlike most “house bridges,” it remains intact and functional, offering a rare glimpse of urban life from the 14th–17th centuries. Its central location near Domplatz makes it easy to combine with cathedral and old-town visits. Come for atmospheric strolls, local crafts, and river views; it’s especially appealing in the morning or early evening when crowds thin.
