El Nido, Philippines
Cathedral Cave is a dramatic sea cavern on the eastern coast of Matinloc Island, reachable by boat from El Nido. Its vaulted chamber, jagged limestone walls, and narrow entrance resemble a nave, best appreciated from the water. Calm conditions may allow boats to nose inside, but swimming is often restricted due to surge and sharp rock. There’s no beach landing; visits are typically a scenic stop on island-hopping tours. Go for striking geology, echoing acoustics, and photography in filtered blue light; skip if you want snorkeling, lounging, or guaranteed entry during rough seas.
