El Nido, Philippines
El Nido, Philippines
Big Lagoon, on Miniloc Island in El Nido, is a calm, cathedral-like inlet framed by towering limestone cliffs and clear, emerald water. Entered by kayak or small boat at high tide, it offers gentle paddling over shallow reefs and seagrass, with chances to spot fish and occasional turtles. The appeal is its scale and serenity—less for beach lounging, more for scenery and photography. It can be crowded in peak season and requires joining an island-hopping tour (usually Tour A). Visit for dramatic karst views and tranquil water rather than adrenaline or secluded swimming.
