Dubrovnik, Croatia
Ploče Gate is the eastern entrance to Dubrovnik’s Old Town, built in the 14th–15th centuries and remodeled in the Renaissance. Guarded by a stone bridge and the St. Blaise statue, it leads directly to the lively market and the Dominican Monastery. Less crowded than Pile Gate, it offers quicker access to the city walls’ eastern climbs and sweeping harbor views. Visit if you value historic fortifications, atmospheric photos at sunrise, and a practical starting point for exploring Lokrum ferries and the old port. Skip if you’re short on time and already entering via Pile Gate.
