Großer Garten

Großer Garten is Dresden’s largest and most historic park, laid out in Baroque style in the 17th century. Its tree-lined avenues lead to the sandstone Palais im Großen Garten, seasonal flower beds, and quiet lawns. Families appreciate the miniature park railway (summer), a small zoo and botanical garden on the edges, and ample cycling and picnic space. Art and architecture fans will note sculptures and vistas shaped by courtly design. Easily reached by tram, it’s ideal for a relaxed half-day escape from Dresden’s museums and riverfront, especially in spring through autumn.
