Dinant, Belgium
Abbaye de Leffe, just outside Dinant, is best known as the birthplace of Leffe beer, first brewed by Premonstratensian canons in the 13th century. Although the working abbey itself is not a major monastery complex to tour, it appeals to visitors interested in Belgian brewing heritage, local history, and quiet riverside surroundings. A visit is best combined with Dinant’s other sights, especially if you want to learn how the abbey’s religious past became linked to one of Belgium’s most famous beers.
