About Old Parliament Building

Old Parliament Building, on Colombo’s seafront at Galle Face, is one of Sri Lanka’s most recognizable colonial-era landmarks. Built in the 1930s in a stately neoclassical style, it served as the country’s parliament until 1983 and remains an important symbol of its political history. Visitors mainly come to admire its grand façade, oceanfront setting, and the impressive statues and formal atmosphere around the site. While the interior is not a major visitor attraction, it is well worth a stop for architecture, photographs, and a sense of Colombo’s historic center.
