About Cologne Zoo

Cologne Zoo, founded in 1860, is one of Germany’s oldest and most diverse zoological gardens. Close to the Rhine and easily reached by public transport, it features well-designed habitats, including the Asian elephant park, Hippodom for African river species, and the tropical House of the Birds. The adjoining Aquarium presents reptiles, amphibians, and marine life. Educational displays, daily keeper talks, and conservation programs add substance beyond simple viewing. Paths are manageable for families, with playgrounds and dining options on-site. Visit if you value thoughtful exhibits, species variety, and a relaxed, full-day experience within city limits.
