Vaugueux district

Vaugueux is one of Caen’s most atmospheric historic quarters, set just below the castle. Its narrow lanes, stone houses, and small squares preserve the character of old Normandy, while restaurants and cafés make it a lively place to pause after sightseeing. Rebuilt less heavily than other parts of the city after World War II, the district offers a rare sense of Caen’s earlier urban fabric.
