About Caminito

Caminito is a short, open-air street museum in La Boca, known for vividly painted conventillo houses, street art, and tango performances. Once a disused railway alley, it was revived in the 1950s by artist Benito Quinquela Martín, becoming a symbol of immigrant working-class heritage. Today it’s a pedestrian art corridor with galleries, craft stalls, and cafes. Expect a lively, touristy scene—best by day. Photography is excellent; dining is average and prices reflect popularity. Combine with a visit to La Bombonera nearby. Keep valuables secure and explore surrounding blocks cautiously or with a tour.
