About Bocas de Ceniza

Bocas de Ceniza is where the Magdalena River meets the Caribbean Sea at Barranquilla’s northern edge. Visitors come for the striking contrast of brown river waters and blue ocean, the long breakwaters, and views of port activity and seabirds. You can walk part of the jetty or ride a rustic “brujita” rail cart from Las Flores neighborhood; conditions can be windy and waves strong, so caution is advised. Photography and sunset watching are popular. There’s little shade or services on-site—plan accordingly. It’s a worthwhile stop for scenery and local color rather than swimming or beach time.
