Athens, Greece
Set beneath the southwest slope of the Acropolis, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus is a 2nd‑century CE Roman stone theater famed for its excellent acoustics and striking cavea. Restored in the 1950s, it hosts the Athens and Epidaurus Festival and select concerts, offering rare chances to experience performances in an ancient venue. Even without a show, visitors can admire its marble seating, imposing stage facade, and dramatic setting with city views. Access to the interior is usually limited to ticketed events; otherwise, the best vantage points are along the Acropolis perimeter paths or from the South Slope.
