St Anna Tunnel, also called the Sint-Annatunnel, is a 1930s pedestrian and cyclist tunnel beneath the River Scheldt in Antwerp. Its main draw is the beautifully preserved wooden escalators, which give the crossing a distinctive historic character. The tunnel links the city center with the Left Bank, where you’ll find broad river views and a fine panorama of Antwerp’s skyline. Quick to visit and still part of daily local life, it offers both a practical crossing and a memorable glimpse of the city’s interwar engineering heritage.
