About Yivli Minaret

The Yivli Minaret (Fluted Minaret) is Antalya’s best-known landmark, rising from the old city (Kaleiçi) with distinctive 13th‑century Seljuk brickwork and turquoise tile accents. Built under Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I, it anchors a former mosque complex that once included madrasas and baths. Visitors come for its striking ribbed silhouette, historical significance as an early Seljuk monument on the coast, and its central location near Hadrian’s Gate and the harbor. While the minaret interior is generally closed, the site offers excellent photo opportunities and an atmospheric introduction to Antalya’s layered past. Ideal for history and architecture enthusiasts.
