About Al-Bidyah Mosque

Al-Bidyah Mosque, near Fujairah, is the UAE’s oldest known mosque, dating to the 15th century. Built from mud and stone with four squat domes and a compact prayer hall, it offers a rare look at early Gulf architecture and local building techniques. The site includes a simple interior, historic mihrab, and hilltop watchtowers overlooking the date-palm plain. It’s a short, atmospheric stop best suited to travelers interested in heritage, architecture, or photography. Modest dress is required; visits are typically brief and can be paired with nearby coastal forts and beaches.
